IL MIO EXPORT – Gabriele Brugnoni – BISCI
1. What is the percentage of exports on the company total? and where to sell more?
Today more than 40%, but we are working to return to a greater quantity of exports as in past years. The major activity? In the USA and, as an effort to recreate the market, Europe.
2. how to promote your wines abroad?
In person, trying to meet those who have to sell the product on the ‘site’ and if possible meeting the end customer. Trying to explain the Marche, the great value of Verdicchio, and Matelica in particular.
3. how have the attitude and interest of foreign consumers towards Italian wine changed?
Compared to the wines of our country, there is always a greater interest in the vines that are historical for us, first used in blends and
which now re-emerge as “soloists”. There is great curiosity especially for the “new” or “little known”. And fortunately in
this case Verdicchio still has a lot to make itself known.
4. let’s close with an anecdote, always related to exports…
There is one Verdicchio and the Marche are still east of Tuscany (and one could add fortunately not “West of Donald Duck!
as a famous film says!). Unfortunately, there is often no distinction between Verdicchio di Matelica and Verdicchio di Jesi, and it is
understandable given that many abroad do not know where the Marche are. If we all realize how small
we are on the planet, we will start to work better together.
